Rita Payés

Jazz

Friday 9th December at 7pm
Teatre de l'Artesana
Falset

This is the biggest challenge of Rita Payés’ career: for the first time she is presenting a concert with songs written and composed by herself. We have before us an album with songs recorded in the prestigious studio of David Casamitjana and produced by Juan Berbín. A job where Carlos Freitas, who has worked with the great Toquinho, Caetano Veloso, Omara Portuondo or Gilberto Gil, worked on the mastering. The sound that emerges is already a house brand: jazz, bossa nova and classical guitar. A mixture that has led Elisabeth Roma and Rita Payés (mother and daughter) to play in many of the European capitals and ranked them alongside historic artists and artists from the mainstream world.

The 22-year-old Catalan trombonist and singer has lived and breathed music since she was a child, thanks to her family. She studied piano, and later on the trombone became her main instrument. She joined the well-known Sant Andreu Jazz Band under the direction of bassist and tenor Joan Chamorro and appeared on several albums alongside Andrea  Motis, Eva Fernández and Magali Datzira. In 2019, she gave her mother the gift of a studio recording session. There she began to record the songs that now accompany them throughout Europe.
