Mirador de Siurana
The Escarteen Sisters, as their stage name suggests, are a duo made up of two sisters, Laia and Flavia Escartin, two voices, cello and violin: a string quartet. "Our music is hard to categorise. Technically, it could be called ‘Folk Fusion’, but we call it ‘music from an imaginary world’." They are not lacking in courage and the fact is, the results are surprising. They state that they are a string quartet because they play and sing at once, recognising that their work is influenced by the natural setting in which they grew up in a farmhouse in the Penedès region of Catalonia. Their music is poetic, their voices exude sweetness and they are able to captivate audiences, carrying them off into the air.
